AeroIntelligence Over-the-Horizon Tracker
May 8, 2023 Update
The Over-the-Horizon Tracker for Boeing's April 2023 deliveries indicates some interesting trends in the wake of Boeing's announcement on April 13, 2023 about the tail-fitting rework that would impact future deliveries.
On April 13, the date of the announcement, 3 Max 8s were delivered. The timing is interesting because Boeing was already aware of the issue. Presumably they had time to inspect and validate that these airframes were compliant.
Prior to April 13, no Max 8s had been delivered since April 6. This is an unusual one-week lull.
Even though the Max 9s were not affected, no Max 9s were delivered subsequent to the announcement.
The proportion of aircraft delivered from inventory instead of direct from the assembly line was higher (3 out of 7) subsequent to the discovery of the defect.
In other programs, we estimate the following deliveries:
767 - a single freighter was delivered
777 - a single freighter was delivered
787 - six deliveries, including an equal mix of -9 and -10
P-8 - a single P-8 was delivered (not counted in teh 737 deliveries).
